Day 5 #fastandprayerkyiv
“Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
No, they have no shame at all;
they do not even know how to blush.
So they will fall among the fallen;
they will be brought down when I punish them,”
says the LORD.”
Jeremiah 6:15
My dreams last night took me again to Kyiv.
I found myself in a town hall, with exhausted men leaning against the walls,, guns on their laps, keeping clear of the windows. I asked someone what was happening outside, and they said it wasn’t safe to go out. So, I climbed some stairs and tried to peer out of an upstairs window, I could see nothing, so I climbed out the window and started to explore the streets. I saw two teenagers riding their bikes, one of them doing a wheelie down the street as kids do, the other boy was trying to ride along while pulling a wheelie bin – otherwise the streets were empty of traffic and there were signs of destruction and desertion all around. Suddenly I heard the cries of dogs barking and some men were chasing after them, and crying out that they were looking for hidden weapons. The atmosphere was getting darker, and the chase got more intense. All of a sudden, I realised I couldn’t back inside and had to run for my life from the danger that was approaching from the North. I found myself wading through deeper and deeper water unable to get to safety.
The Russian media and politicians continue to spout their lies and propaganda and deny there is a war raging in Ukraine. There can be no denial for the Ukrainian people as they are living in the midst of destruction, fire and explosions and unbearable situations. Yet they are carrying on and fighting for their freedom.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” James 4:6
Lord God, bless those men and women, children and old folk who are resisting the devil and standing firm in Kyiv. Give them the grace and strength they need to continue to shine as beacons of hope, bravery and courage to the world. Oppose those proud politicians, leaders and generals and bring them into confusion and bring upon them your judgement so that in their shame they may turn away from evil and into the light of Christ. Amen.
I can not do much, but I can pray and fast in solidarity with those who are going without food today.
If you feel God is calling you, please join in this fast and prayer.
